John Waterbury steps down after three years as a trustee

London, 1 March 2019 — Three years after he joined the Alexandria Trust in 2016, Dr John Waterbury has stepped down from his role on the Board of Trustees. Dr Waterbury was the 14th President of the American University of Beirut (AUB) in January 1998 and retired from the presidency in July 2008. Before joining AUB, he was for twenty years Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He specialised in the political economy of developing countries with a special focus on the Middle East. He was Director of Princeton's Center of International Studies and Editor of the academic journal, World Politics, from 1992 to 1998. For the year 2011, he was Senior Advisor to the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi on higher education.
