Sir Hugh Robertson, MP, gave a wide ranging introduction on the many issues the Arab region is facing, and which the British and other governments are having to address. From 2012 to 2014, Sir Hugh served as Minister of State at The Foreign and Commonwealth Office with responsibility for The Middle East, North Africa and Counter Terrorism.

Sir Hugh's remarks led to a stimulating roundtable discussion. The evening was co-chaired by Youssef Khlat, CLS board member and David French, Advisor to the Chair and Board of the Alexandria Trust.

The Centre for Lebanese Studies had previously organised two dinners for the Trust at which spoke Rt. Hon. Charles Clarke and Ambassador Frances Guy, both of whom are Trust board members.
