Alexandria Trust hosts dinner in honour of Ismail Serageldin at the Royal Society

London, 14 November 2013 – At a dinner hosted by the Alexandria Trust at the Royal Society in his honour, Ismail Serageldin, Founding Director of the Library of Alexandria, delivered remarks on “Education and the Future of the Arab World”.

His talk first covered the events in Egypt and the ongoing turmoil following the Arab Spring; and the vital role of education in the future of the Arab World. The remarks were well received by the dinner guests.

The dinner was attended by two former Presidents of the Royal Society, Lord Martin Rees and Lord Robert May, the Chairman of the Wellcome Trust, Sir William Castell, Ms. Bianca Jagger, Founder and Chair, Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation, Mr. Dimitris Dondos, Chairman, Saint Catherine Foundation, Professor Marcus du Sautoy of Oxford University, Sir Partha Dasgupta of Cambridge University, Dr. Venetia Porter of the British Museum and other very distinguished individuals.
